How do I reduce the size of movie files?

Uploading large files to GetJealous.com can take a long time and so it is sometimes advisable to reduce the size of the file before uploading it.

If using Windows, we have had success in using the free 'Video to Flash Converter' application to reduce the size of the movie to be uploaded.

You can download and install Video to Flash Converter from their download page. There is quite a lot of garbage on this page so make sure that you click the 'Download Now' link.

Once you have downloaded and installed Video to Flash Converter, start it up. You can now add all the files that you would like to shrink so that they all get processed at once.

Make sure that the format is set to 'FLV' and use the 'Normal Quality' Preset.

Now just select 'Convert' and the new smaller file will be created. The file that you want to upload to GetJealous.com will be in c:\DVDVideoSoft and will have the same name as the original file, but with a '.flv' extension.

There is a chance that you may lose your original file if you overwrite it with a version of lower quality so always make a back up.
