Thanks to everyone who submitted a diary entry for the GetJealous disaster story competition. We had some interesting entries - some hilarious, some rather disgusting, some bizarre and some downright scary. There certainly are some unlucky travellers out there!

There was one outright winner: A terrifying story of a kidnapping by the Ukranian Mafia and subsequent escape involving nuns and a bus crash. Our four runners-up also sound lucky to be alive. Disaster Den's ability to follow disaster around the world has to be read to be believed, whilst Vixidan's story of a trip to hospital in Argentina will make you never want to be sick again. Reefwalker's tale of a serially exploding car and travelbugz account of catching a train in India are classic traveller's tales. Each runner-up receives a year's gold membership and a lonely planet travel guide.
